With Delhi University announcing it's application schedule, the race to secure a seat in one of the coveted colleges affiliated with the university has begun. No doubt, the university has a rich history and some notable names from the fields of Arts, Films, Journalism, Politics, Literature etc. in their list of alumni, but it's not the only option. The DU colleges have limited number of seats and can accommodate only so many students as sanctioned by the University. One of the grave mistakes many students make is that they apply only to DU and ignore other universities and educational institutes in the city.
In this article we will list some of the alternatives to Delhi University for students who wish to study in Delhi.
Ambedkar University: Ambedkar University, Delhi (AUD) offers a total of 7 BA programs. The specializations available are Economics, English, History, Mathematics, Psychology, Social Science and Humanities, and Sociology. The application process for AUD is still open and you can apply online till June 23.
IGNOU: IGNOU is clearly not the conventional choice, but the university is worth a shot for students who wish to complete their graduation while pursuing other interests. IGNOU began the application process for the July session recently. Students can explore through the multitude of courses available and apply online.
Jamia Hamdard University: Jamai Hamdard University offers various programs in medicine, pharmacy, science, humanities, business management and several other streams. The last date to apply online is June 15.
There are other acclaimed universities as well, however, the application process at these universities is over.
Jamia Millia Islamia: The university has already concluded the entrance tests for admission. However, online application for admission to BDS program is open till May 20.
Jawaharlal Nehru University: The application process for JNU began in March. The university is now in the middle of selection process for various UG, PG and research courses.
GGS Indraprastha University: GGSIPU university concluded the application process for most of its program in April. However, the university recently introduced BA (Hons.) in Economics, for which the application process if open. The last date to apply for this program is June 26, till 4:00 pm.
