UP Board exams 2018: UPMSP Makes Aadhaar Mandatory For Class 10, 12 Exams

New Delhi: The students who will be appearing for the UP Board Class 10 and Class 12 examinations next year will have to possess Aadhaar Card by the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI). According to several reports, the Uttar Pradesh Madhyamik Shiksha Parishad (UPMSP), the authority which organises the secondary school and Intermediate (Class 10 and Class 12) board exams in the state, has made Aadhaar card mandatory for students appearing in annual board exams scheduled for next year. Indian Express reported that the students will have to reach the exam centre along with their Aadhaar card.

This UP Board direction comes after several universities and examination authorities have made similar rules regarding the Aadhaar car for academic and competitive exams. 

Recently, organisations like CBSE, Railways, UPSC and Haryana Board of Secondary Education have made Aadhaar mandatory for several of academic and competitive exams.

UP Board class 10 and class 12 exams for this academic year are scheduled to begin from February 6 next year. According to the time table released on October last week, the class 10 board exams will continue till 22 February and while the class 12 exams will be held till March 14, 2018.

Uttar Pradesh Board Secretary Neena Srivastava had said then the Class 10 exams would be completed in a record 14 working days this time while the exams for Class 12 will conclude in 25 working days, as desired by the Yogi Adityanath government.

High school or class 10 exams will be conducted between February 6 and February 22, and intermediate or class 12 between February 6 and March 10 next year.

As many as 67,02,483 students have enrolled for the exams this year. Of this, 37,12,508 are for Class 10 and 29,89,975 for Class 12, reported Indo-Asian News Service.

Deputy Chief Minister Dinesh Sharma, who also holds charge of Secondary Education and Higher Education Departments, had asserted that the exams this year would be conducted with full transparency, be cheating free and also be done within a month.
