CAT 2024: Normalisation Process Explained

The Common Admission Test (CAT) 2024 application process is set to commence on August 1 with deadline set for September 23

The CAT 2024 will be conducted in three sessions - morning (8.30am - 10.30am), afternoon (12.30pm - 2.30pm), and evening (4.30pm - 6.30pm)

To ensure fairness in evaluating candidates across these sessions, the scores will undergo a normalisation process

The Normalisation process shall adjust for location and scale differences of score distributions across different forms

After normalisation across different forms, the scores shall be further normalised across different sections

Scaled Scores for each section - (VARC), DILR, and Quantitative Ability - and total along with the percentiles will be released

The process of Normalisation is an established practice for comparing candidate scores across multiple test forms

It is similar to those being adopted in other large educational selection tests conducted in India, such as GATE
