Patna: Two jawans of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) were killed and four others injured in a landmine blast in Bihar early this morning. The blast took place between Jamui, where voting is being held in the third phase of Lok Sabha election, and Munger.
The blast took place at around 4 am this morning when the jeep of the CRPF personnel, who were on patrolling duty, was blown up. The injured jawans have been rushed to Munger.
The Naxals, who have boycotted these elections, are believed to be behind this blast.
Earlier this week, six landmines planted by the Maoists in Bihar's Gaya were found, a day after three troopers were killed while trying to defuse an explosive device.
Three CRPF troopers were killed in Aurangabad district on Monday when an improvised explosive device (IED) blew up while they were defusing it.
The state and Centre have made elaborate security arrangements in the Naxal-affected ditricts of the state where polling is scheduled to take place today. Extra companies of central forces like the CRPF have been deployed in the areas.
