Chenna:
A day after he was booked for allegedly attempting to incite people on caste lines, Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK) leader Anbumani Ramadoss today said the charges against him are baseless.
"I am not aware of any CDs that are said to have been circulated by me; neither have I seen them nor have I distributed them. This is a false case. There is no need for me to incite caste feelings when I have the support of all sections of people," he said.
Mr Ramadoss, former Union minister and PMK candidate from Dharmapuri Lok Sabha constituency, claimed that his chances of winning are bright and the ruling AIADMK, unable to digest this, had instigated the police who had subsequently filed a case against him.
It was AIADMK which was trying to gain political mileage by creating caste feelings, he alleged.
Mr Ramadoss also said with 25 days left for polling, the ruling party could create similar issues and sought Election Commission's intervention in the matter. He also asked the Election Commission to take action against police officials who had "foisted" a case against PMK workers.
Mr Ramadoss, his party's Deputy General Secretary A Saravanan and District Secretary R Arasangam were booked for promoting enmity between different groups and issuing statement conducing to public mischief and violating Model Code of Conduct.
