Vijayawada: In a first-of-its-kind experience people in Vijayawada witnessed the polling process of the entire Vijayawada parliamentary constituency 'live' on a big screen set up for the purpose.

The real time streaming was possible due to web-casting which was conducted with the support of BSNL and students of the Indian Institute of Information and Technology (IIIT), Nuziveed in Krishna district.

The 'live' web-casting of polling from various booths was aimed at checking loopholes, if any, during the process, district officials said, adding that viewing was made available for general public in view to make the electoral process transparent.

State Chief Electoral Officer at Hyderabad and Krishna district collector M Raghunandan Rao also observed the proceedings.

Scores of people turned up to watch live images of the proceedings, which were beamed on a screen set up near Benz Circle in the city.
