Itanagar:
Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Nabam Tuki has signed into law, the Lokayukta Bill which the state Assembly had passed in March.
Passage of the Lokayukta Act was a commitment made in Congress's election manifesto this year, official sources said in Itanagar today.
"This is a gift to the people of Arunachal Pradesh from a responsive government," the sources quoted Mr Tuki as saying after he signed the Bill yesterday on his first day in office following Congress's re-election in the state.
Lokayukta is a quasi-judicial body which would act as a watchdog to pinpoint wrongdoings of the administration, look into complaints of victims of corruption and suggest measures to improve the efficiency of the government.
