The Election Commission has issued a notice to Aam Aadmi Party or AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal for organising a meeting without permission at Rajghat in New Delhi on Tuesday.
"A show-cause notice has been issued to Arvind Kejriwal for conducting a meeting at the Rajghat without permission from the poll panel," Niharika Rai, district election officer, east Delhi, told IANS.
"Kejriwal has been asked to reply to the notice by Thursday morning and give the reasons why was the poll panel and the police not informed in advance about the meeting," she added.
After being slapped by an auto-rickshaw driver on Tuesday during a rally at Sultanpuri in west Delhi, Mr Kejriwal gathered with his supporters at Rajghat, the memorial to Mahatma Gandhi.
Voting in Delhi for the Lok Sabha election will be held April 10.
