Rohtak: Aam Aadmi Party leader Arvind Kejriwal's blue WagonR car, which he gifted to party's Rohtak candidate Navin Jaihind, was attacked on Monday night during campaigning. Mr Jaihind was present in the car when some men on the bike attacked it with iron rods, but he escaped unhurt.

A police case has been registered against unknown persons.

Mr Kejriwal had given his car to Mr Jaihind for campaigning as he does not have a vehicle. (Full coverage: India Votes 2014)

"I don't own any car and Arvind (Kejriwal) happened to ask me as to how was I campaigning for election since I do not have a car. When he came to know my plight, he offered me his car. He has asked me to use the car until I arrange one for myself," Mr Jaihind had earlier said.

He also drove to file his nomination papers in Mr Kejriwal's "lucky" blue car. Rohtak is represented by two-time MP Deepender Singh Hooda, son of Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda.

Mr Jaihind has been associated with Mr Kejriwal since 2007. His wife Swati Maliwal was in the Core Committee of India Against Corruption. Mr Kejriwal had publicly asked him to contest from Rohtak and challenge the Hoodas in their bastion.

Mr Kejriwal's blue WagonR has become Mr Jaihind's identity, along with his attire. Even after becoming the Chief Minister of Delhi, Mr Kejriwal would, for most of the time, travel in his car.

While he was on a dharna outside Rail Bhavan in chilling cold, Mr Kejriwal had sought temporary refuge in the car.
