Attacked by Congress workers in Amethi, alleges Aam Aadmi Party's Kumar Vishwas
Amethi: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Kumar Vishwas and his supporters reportedly clashed with villagers in the Jagdishpur area of Amethi on Friday. Mr Vishwas is contesting on AAP ticket against Rahul Gandhi from Amethi.

Mr Vishwas and his team were campaigning in the area and allegedly shouted slogans against Mr Gandhi which locals objected to. This led to violence.

AAP workers, however, claim that the mob that attacked them was led by a local Congressman named Ishraaq.

"As I was proceeding to address an election meeting there, 20 to 25 Congress workers armed with lathis used foul language, clashed and attacked AAP workers including me," Mr Vishwas said.

"At least three vehicles, including one used by me, was damaged in brick-batting," he added.

Two AAP workers have reportedly sustained head injuries in the clashes.

Superintendent of Police Hiralal said the concerned police station has been informed and force has been sent. "Action would be taken against those found involved in it," the SP added.
