Kolkata: Three people, believed to be Congress supporters, suffered gun-shot wounds in West Bengal's Malda district during a clash with Trinamool supporters over wall writing this morning.
The incident took place at Kaliachak, when Congress and Trinamool supporters started quarreling over who and where they would write their candidates' names. According to the Congress workers, they had taken permission from the home owner to write on the wall, and trouble began after Trinamool supporters arrived on the spot.
The argument turned into a physical clash, after which two Trinamool supporters allegedly climbed the roof of the nearby party office and fired six rounds into the crowd, hitting three people.
Security forces and senior officers rushed to the area and arrested suspects Syed Ali and Ilias Shiekh, both Trinamool supporters.
However by this time, Congress workers had allegedly ransacked the Trinamool office and also set a motorcycle on fire.
The three injured Congress supporters were rushed to a government hospital in Malda town.
