Amethi:
Aam Aadmi Party's Kumar Vishwas, who has declared he will run against Rahul Gandhi in the Lok Sabha elections, was attacked by eggs at a public meeting in Amethi today.
Though the attacker is yet to be identified, Mr Vishwas has said the local Congress unit in Amethi is behind the attack.
The 43-year-old AAP leader is campaigning extensively in Mr Gandhi's constituency Amethi for the past one week. Earlier this week, he spent a day with a Dalit family, which had Mr Gandhi as an overnight guest in 2008.
A day before Mr Vishwas' visit to the Dalit home, he had, in an apparent dig at the Congress vice-president, said at a rally, "I will not go to a Dalit's house and have dinner and then call TV crews to cover."
"People called me a joker, questioned me contesting against Rahul Gandhi. Joker is a good person. Joker doesn't sell the country," Mr Vishwas had said.
The poet-turned-politician has said that he will not just contest, but win the parliamentary election against Mr Gandhi from Amethi.
