New Delhi: The first meeting of the expanded Union Cabinet scheduled for Saturday is expected to finalise the President's address to the joint sitting of Parliament on June 4.

The address will unveil the government's agenda for the year ahead in tune with the policies and programmes of the ruling party and its allies.

The President's address is likely to incorporate its commitment to strengthening schemes like NREGA and economic policies to be followed in the wake of global recession and promises to weaker sections of society.

Meanwhile, a securitydrill was conducted at Parliament House on Saturday morning to check the preparednessof various agencies in the event of an emergency in the highly-guarded complex.

 

The drillstarted around 10 am, Joint Secretary in charge of Parliament security,Kanwaljit Deol, said.

 

The drillcomes two days ahead of the first session of 15th Lok Sabha.

 

Policemenwere also seen entering nearby buildings and giving instructions to people.

On Friday, Team Manmohan finally took charge and on day 1 of theirsecond innings, many of the ministers were quick to spell out theirimmediate agenda.
