Chandigarh: Haryana minister Kiran Chaudhary was allegedly attacked during an election campaign at Koriawas village in Narnaul in Haryana on Wednesday and has been hospitalised.

The Minister of Excise and Taxation and Public Health and Engineering was pelted with stones by some miscreants when she was campaigning for her daughter and Congress MP Shruti Chaudhary, police sources said.

Talking to PTI over telephone, Shruti said her mother had suffered serious injuries in the attack which occurred late this evening.

She said Kiran suffered injuries on the head and chest and was rushed to a private hospital in Gurgaon.

Chest X-ray and other medical tests were being done at the hospital, she added.

Shruti said she was campaigning in another village when the incident occurred.

She claimed that people who attacked her mother were close to their political rivals.

We have lodged a police complaint in this regard and also apprised the Election Commission about the incident, she said.

Shruti is seeking re-election from Bhiwani-Mahendergarh parliamentary seat.

Haryana's former Chief Parliamentary Secretary Dharambir Singh, who recently quit Congress and joined BJP, is pitted against her.

Shruti is the granddaughter of former Haryana Chief Minister late Bansi Lal.
