Chennai:
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa today said that her party "will challenge the Election Commission's rule" which she described as arbitrary and over-reaching.
Addressing an election rally, the chief minister said that the Election Commission's guidelines currently assign the costs of her rallies to the 70-lakh limit for campaign expenditure to the candidate that she is campaigning for.
"This is a mockery of democracy," she said, adding that as a result, she is forced to not mention the name of her party's candidate in the area where her rally is held.
