Jayalalithaa's AIADMK enters into alliance with CPI for Lok Sabha polls

Jayalalithaa's AIADMK enters into alliance with CPI for Lok Sabha polls
Chennai: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa announced today that her party, the AIADMK, has decided to enter into an alliance with the CPI for the Lok Sabha polls due by May.

The announcement came after CPI General Secretary A B Baradhan met the chief minister in Chennai.

"If the alliance succeeds, there will be prospects of Ms Jayalalithaa becoming the PM," Mr Bardhan said after the announcement.

Seeking a complete rout of archrival DMK and Congress in the Lok Sabha polls, the chief minister had last month announced a "whirlwind" campaign to ensure AIADMK wins all 40 seats.

"I request you to work with the aim to ensure that DMK and Congress, who have been constantly betraying the people of Tamil Nadu, do not get a single seat in the coming Lok Sabha elections,"  she had said while addressing her party supporters last month.
