Early leads for  Kerala show the Left front ahead, with the incumbent Congress coalition trailing. Kerala has a total of 140 seats. The panchayat elections recently held gave the Left 57% of the seats, with 42% for the Congress-led UDF. The BJP and others got the balance one percent.
