Key Fights: Sasaram, Bihar

A reserved constituency, Sasaram remained loyal to former deputy prime minister Jagjivan Ram till his death in 1986. His daughter, Meira Kumar, who is the Speaker of the outgoing Lok Sabha, has been winning it as a Congress nominee since 2004.

Her bid to score a hat-trick from this constituency faces obstacles in the form of BJP's Chhedi Paswan, a two-term former  MP,  K P Ramaiah, a 1986-batch IAS officer who resigned from service last month to join the Janata Dal (United), and Geeta Arya, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) candidate who is also the national secretary of All India Safai Mazdoor Sangh.
