Lalu Prasad Yadav, well-known for his offbeat comments, has suggested that "sending
Narendra Modi to Pakistan is the best medicine for him."
The Rashtriya Janata Dal leader was reacting to Pakistan Interior Minister Chaudhary Nisar Ali Khan's statement yesterday that if Mr Modi is elected Prime Minister of India, it will destabilise the region.
"Send Narendra Modi to Pakistan, then only any question of destabilisation will arise. His people talk about sending others to Pakistan, we should send him instead," Mr Prasad told reporters in Patna. (Also Read:

The RJD leader's tongue in cheek suggestion also referenced a recent controversy scripted by Bihar BJP leader Giriraj Singh, who had said in an election speech that all critics of Mr Modi should move to Pakistan. (Also Read:

"First send Modi to Pakistan. This is the best medicine for him. We will think about Election Commission FIR after that," he said when asked to comment on the Election Commission ordering two cases against Mr Modi for violating the model code of conduct yesterday.
The BJP quickly responded with a suggestion of its own.
"Why not send Laluji to Pakistan instead? He says he is very popular in that country. It will be a wise decision to send him there," BJP spokesperson Syed Shahnawaz Hussain retorted.
Mr Hussain also said Pakistan's ministers had no right to interfere in Indian matters and that it was for the people of this country to decide who their Prime Minister would be.
The Pakistan minister -- while reacting to Mr Modi's statement about bringing back underworld don Dawood Ibrahim to India if he came to power -- had warned, "Pakistan's efforts for peace in the region should not be taken as its weakness. The leadership, people and particularly armed forces are capable of responding to threats from India."
He had added that if elected as the prime minister of India, Mr Modi would destabilise regional peace.
