A Voter was allegedly attacked in Gopalganj, Bihar

Gopalganj, Bihar: Police were on a look out for Janata Dal-United JD(U)  MLA Amrendra Kumar Pandey and arrested his two aides after they were booked for allegedly attacking a voter in Bihar's Gopalganj today.

The two aides, Dharmendra Pandey and Parmatama Pandey, who were named in the First Information Report (FIR) at the Hathua police station, were arrested while the police were looking for the MLA, Superintendent of Police Vinod Kumar Chaudhary told PTI.

Mr Pandey and nine others were charged with attempted murder on a complaint lodged by the voter, Jairam Tiwari.

Tiwari, a Congress supporter, alleged that as soon as he came out of a booth in Naya Gaon Tulsiya village, the MLA and his aides attacked him for not voting for JD(U).

Earlier, the MLA denied attacking Tiwari and claimed it was a "conspiracy" against him by his rivals. He said that he was not present in Hathua where the incident took place.

Polling was held in the Gopalganj (SC) seat during the day. It witnessed a triangular contest between JD(U)'s Anil Kumar, BJP's Janak Ram and Congress's Jyoti.
