"I don't think the country as a whole is struck by any Modi wave. It is a creation of the media," Dr Singh said in Dispur, where he is registered as a voter.

In January, he had said that it would be "disastrous for the country to have Narendra Modi as Prime Minister" and described him as "someone who has presided over the mass massacre of citizens on the streets of Ahmedabad." (Modi as PM will be disastrous for India: Dr Singh)
Mr Modi and his party have also targeted the Prime Minister repeatedly. Two books by insiders who described Dr Singh as a well-meaning man without any actual control over his government were seized by the BJP recently. (Also Read: PM 'a discredited, defeated general')
