Mulayam Singh talking rubbish: Lalu Prasad

Patna: Mulayam Singh Yadav is talking "rubbish", RJD chief Lalu Prasad said on Friday, reacting to the Samajwadi Party chief terming as unfair the death penalty prescribed by law in rape cases. (Mulayam's shocker on rape: 'they are boys, they make mistakes')

"Mulayam Singh Yadav is derailed now," Lalu Prasad told reporters in Patna before leaving for campaigning.

He said Mulayam Singh is talking "bakwaas" (rubbish).

Lalu Prasad said that Mr Mulayam is not aware of what he was talking and what will be its impact.

Capital punishment to rapists is justified, the Rashtriya Janata Dal chief said.

At an election rally in Moradabad in Uttar Pradesh, Mulayam Singh also said that if his party leads the government at the centre, he would change the law. (India Votes 2014: Full coverage)

"Death penalty for rape is unfair, boys make mistakes... will change rape laws when we come to power," Mulayam Singh said.
