Chennai:
BJP's prime ministerial candidate and Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi will address a public meeting at Vandalur, near Chennai this evening.
This is Mr Modi's second public rally in Tamil Nadu. In September last year, he had addressed a rally in Tiruchirappalli.
The party has so far had a thin presence in the Dravidian heartland. Although the party registered a two per cent vote share in the last assembly polls in 2011, this time the party claims its share has risen to ten per cent citing 'Modi wave' and is leading the third front in the state.
However, the party's plan to showcase its allies on stage with Mr Modi has not materialised yet due to hiccups in seat sharing talks. The party is holding talks to rope in actor Vijaykanth's DMDK, Dr Ramadoss' PMK and Mr Vaiko's MDMK. Sources in MDMK say Mr Vaiko would not attend the meet but he would send a few senior leaders.
