
NDTV opinion poll shows that the Aam Aadmi Party, or the AAP, is clinging on to its vote-share of 29 per cent in Delhi, where it had pulled off a spectacular performance in the assembly polls held in December. But this vote-share translates into only two seats in the capital, which sends seven MPs to the Lok Sabha. Among the other states, it is expected to do reasonably well in Punjab with 14 per cent votes, but its performance is expected to be less than impressive in the other states. The fledgling party is expected to get only 8 per cent of the votes in Haryana, a state bordering Delhi which was expected to emerge as its next catchment area. It is also likely to score a vote-share of 3 per cent in Maharashtra, Bihar and Uttar Pradesh.
In order to be recognised as a national party, a political outfit has to win at least 6 per cent votes in four states.
