Shimla : Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh on Thurday dismissed the presence a Narendra Modi wave in Himachal Pradesh and said that the party will win all four Lok Sabha seats in the state.
"I would not like to speculate...but can say with confidence that the Congress would win all four seats," the chief minister, who was back in his office today after two months of election campaign, told reporters in Shimla.
Reiterating the demand for a probe into crores of rupees being allegedly spent on the BJP's election campaign, Mr Singh said the Election Commission should initiate a thorough enquiry into it.
"For the first time in the electoral history of India, a party has sought votes in the name of a leader which is a serious threat to our multi-party parliamentary democracy."
"The Congress party has had towering leaders like Jawaharlal Nehru, Lal Bahadur Shashtri and Indira Gandhi but we never sought votes in their names and instead urged the voters to vote for Congress," he added.
Blaming the "poor management" of the previous BJP government for the present financial crunch in the state, the Chief Minister said it was because its financial indiscipline that the situation had become so bad.
"I wish the Finance Commission would consider our problems and requirements and give sufficient funds to overcome the situation," he said.
