Ranchi: There is no Narendra Modi wave but only "Modi poison" in India, said union minister Jairam Ramesh on Sunday. (Elections: full coverage)
"Modi ka koi lahar nahi hai, Modi ka zehar hai (There is no Modi wave. There is Modi poison)," Mr Ramesh told reporters in coal city Dhanbad, in a reference to the Bharatiya Janata Party's prime ministerial candidate.
In Dhanbad to campaign for party candidate Ajay Dubey, Mr Ramesh expressed satisfaction over increase in voting percentage in Saranda jungle - one of the worst Maoist-affected areas of the state.
"Earlier people did not turn out to cast their votes. This time, Saranda witnessed 70 per cent polling," he said.
Mr Ramesh also attacked sitting MP P.N. Singh of the BJP. "I have seen Singh only chewing betel, not asking a single question in parliament."
