Open to supporting Congress: JD(S)

New Delhi: JD(S) on Monday said it would "consider" extending support to the Congress-led Government if approached.

"If they (Congress) request my support, then we will consider it," JD(S) leader H D Kumaraswamy told a television channel.

Kumaraswamy, who met Congress chief Sonia Gandhi last week, triggering speculation about JD(S) offering support to Congress in government formation, said their expectation from the new government is to get "more benefit for Karnataka's development."

In an interview to a TV channel, he alleged that during the last six years Karnataka did not get proper benefit from the Centre. Kumaraswamy said that when he met the Congress chief last week, "we discussed Karnataka's political scenario."

Kumaraswamy had on Sunday met senior Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad.
