Allahabad: A petition was filed in the Allahabad High Court on Thursday seeking action against BJP leader Amit Shah for his statement in which he had described Azamgarh district of Uttar Pradesh as a "haven for terrorists".

The petition, which is likely to come up for hearing on Monday, was filed by one Javed Mohd, who is the convenor of Alpasankhyak Utpeedan Virodhi Qanooni Adhikar Manch, an organisation devoted to seeking legal remedy against atrocities on minorities.

The petitioner has sought the court's direction to the Election Commission for taking stringent action against Mr Shah, national general secretary of the BJP and close aide of its prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi, on the charge of promoting enmity between different communities for electoral gains.
