Itanagar:
Poll preparations are almost complete in Arunachal Pradesh for both Lok Sabha and Assembly elections slated for April 9, especially in Tirap, Changlang and Longding districts which have recently hogged headlines for insurgency-related incidents.
Though most of the polling stations in the three districts have been identified as "sensitive", there are some "hyper-sensitive" polling stations for which contingency plans of high security have been made, election office sources said today.
There are 99 polling stations in Tirap, 166 in Changlang and 68 in the newly created Longding district.
Tirap Deputy Commissioner Kamlesh Kumar Joshi, who is also the DEO of Tirap and Longding districts, is personally supervising all the arrangements.
Flying Squads consisting of three teams in each seat have been formed to check electoral malpractices.
A series of training programmes for presiding and polling officers, awareness meetings and micro observer training had been carried out for smooth conduct of the poll, the sources said.
