New Delhi:

President Pratibha Patil will on Thursday address the joint session of Parliament.

The content of the president's address is what everyone will be looking forward to. This time it's a much sure-footed government, which will talk about its agenda.

As per the sources, most of the agenda is from the Congress poll manifesto, as Prime Minister Manmohan Singh in his second term has no ally to appease.

Here's what we can expect in the President's address.

  • The President will formally announce the second UPA government's 100-day programme for all ministries.
  • Economic policies to tackle the downturn.
  • Policies in the employment and export sector which has taken a beating in the downturn.
  • Packages for rural development, including details about expansion of NREGA.
  • The government's plans about social security.. which the Congress talked in its manifesto.

There will be a debate on the Presidential address on June 5, 6 and 7 before the House adjourns for the Vote of Thanks on June 9.
