Sabir Ali hits back at BJP's Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi: 'prove terror links or apologise'

New Delhi: Sabir Ali, controversial leader from Bihar, today dared BJP leader Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi to prove allegations of his links to Yasin Bhatkal, the alleged head of terror group Indian Mujahideen.

Mr Ali was dropped from the BJP yesterday barely within 24 hours of being inducted into the party following opposition from various leaders, alleging that he is a sympathizer of Bhatkal. (BJP cancels membership of yet another new recruit Sabir Ali) Mr Naqvi, in fact, had asked on Twitter if the party would next recruit underworld don Dawood Ibrahim.

"I am ready to hang myself if Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi can prove my relations to any terrorist," Mr Ali said at a press conference. Flanked by his wife, the former JD(U) leader even threatened to sue Mr Naqvi.

"I want a written apology from Naqvi saab within 24 hours or give proof of our relations with Yasin Bhatkal... otherwise I will hold a protest outside his house," Mr Ali's wife said.

Mr Ali had yesterday declared that he would "quit politics forever" if the allegations levelled against him were found true. His remarks came just hours before the BJP cancelled his membership.

Mr Ali now has the distinction of exiting two parties within a week. He joined the BJP after being sacked from the Janata Dal (United) in Bihar after he publicly praised the former's prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi - payback for not being re-nominated by the JD(U) to the Rajya Sabha.
