Former cricketer Sreesanth lost his debut election, which he contested in Thiruvananthapuram as a BJP candidate.

Former cricketer Sreesanth, who batted for the BJP from Thiruvananthapuram and got bowled by his Congress opponent, received a lot of support from Twitteratti for his sporting spirit today.
Soon after the counting of votes was over, Sreesanth tweeted saying it was a "great experience" -- only to delete it later. But he posted his picture with the sole BJP winner in the state -- O Rajagopal.
Twitter exploded with messages of support.
Soon after, Sreesanth had another post for his fans. A stark black and white poster that announced:
The flamboyant former cricketer had joined the BJP last month after his career on field was cut short by a ban following a match fixing scandal.
But as a politician he learnt fast on the job -- taking to the campaign trail, gatecrashing weddings and chatting up voters over breakfast idlis. He even took to the social media, notching up 1.05 million followers.
Earlier this morning, he responded to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's tweet:
But as the day wore on, it turned out that he had been pipped by Congress's VS Sivakumar by 10,905 votes.
