Unlike Narendra Modi, I have not trumpeted my beginnings: Lalu Prasad Yadav

Patna: On NDTV's show 'Candidates 2014', RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav spoke on the upcoming election.

Here are the highlights:

• I had said I can be PM one day, why not?
• 2014 elections will decide which way India goes - Mahatma Gandhi's way or Nathuram Godse's way.
• Everyone worried about allies, not country.
• The question is not who will be PM, but how to save the country.
  
• Agenda of communal forces exposed recently.
• Unlike Narendra Modi, I haven't trumpeted my beginnings.
• In Gujarat and Maharashtra, corporates are working for fascist forces. 
• You can't ignore communalism - even when you bring corruption forward.
• Communalism has been cleverly sidelined - and everyone seems to be only talking about corruption.
• I have nurtured Nitish Kumar. We have been together.
• But Lalu could never join communal forces.
• He was the Railways Minister when Sabarmati Express was set on fire (Gujarat 2002 riots).
• He went with BJP to dislodge me from power. Now Nitish Kumar isn't a factor in Bihar anymore.
• To stop communalism, I will do whatever it takes. Congress is a national party and I have always supported Soniaji.
• When Advaniji and Nitish were in power, my wife as chief minister asked them for special status for Bihar. Why did they not grant it then?
• I have been facing so many attacks. If it had been anyone else, he or she would have died of a heart attack.
• God is on my side, everyone who attacked me is getting side-tracked.
  I know I will get justice.
• There can be no prosperity without peace.
• All party leaders authorised me to fix the candidates everywhere.
• We can't look at people being upset when we have to fight  communalism.
• Will write book later on my experiences in politics.
• Misa went to meet Kirpal but he went away himself and did not meet her. We never told him anything.
• How can one be loyal only till they're getting something from us.
