In Andaman and Nicobar Islands, 12 candidates are contesting for the lone seat that voted in the first phase of Lok Sabha election in the first phase on April 19. The Congress has retained its sitting MP Kuldeep Rai Sharma, who won in 2019 by a margin of 1,407 votes. The BJP has fielded former MP Bishnu Pada Ray, who won the seat in 2009 and 2014 elections.
Candidates from the CPM, BSP and AIADMK are also in the contest.
The islands recorded a voter turnout of 63.9 per cent this time. Andaman and Nicobar Islands have a total of 3.15 lakh voters and polling was held across 412 booths.
