About Assam Lok Sabha Election Results

Polling for the 14 Lok Sabha seats in Assam was held in three phases -- April 19, April 26 and May 7. The BJP, which won nine seats in the Northeastern state last time, is contesting on 11 this time as part of its alliance with Asom Gana Parishad and United People's Party Liberal. Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has led the BJP's campaign and said he is confident of a stellar show.

The Congress, which won three seats last time, has tied up with Lurinjyoti Gogoi's Assam Jatiya Parishad. Also in the contest is Badruddin Ajmal's All India United Democratic Front, Bodoland People's Front, Trinamool Congress and Left parties.

Among the key candidates in the state are Union Minister and former Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal and Congress's deputy leader in Lok Sabha Gaurav Gogoi.
