In the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, Rao Inderjit Singh was elected from the Gurgaon constituency in Haryana on a Bharatiya Janata Party ticket. He won with 6,44,780 votes defeating Zakir Hussain of the Indian National Lok Dal by a margin of 2,74,722 votes.
In the 2009 general elections, Rao Inderjit Singh won the Gurgaon constituency on an Indian National Congress ticket. He secured 2,78,516 votes (36.83 per cent of the total votes polled in the constituency) , defeating Zakir Hussain who contested on a Bahujan Samaj Party and received 1,93,652 votes (25.61 per cent).
There are nine assembly seats under the Gurgaon constituency: Bawal, Rewari, Pataudi, Badshahpur, Gurgaon, Sohna, Nuh, Ferozepur Jhirka and Punahana.
For the 2019 general elections, Rao Inderjit Singh of the Bharatiya Janata Party is contesting against Ajay Singh Yadav of the Indian National Congress, Chaudhary Rais Ahmad of the Bahujan Samaj Party, and Virender Rana of the Indian National Lok Dal.
