About Jammu & Kashmir Lok Sabha Election Results

Jammu and Kashmir recorded the highest voter turnout in a Lok Sabha poll in the last 35 years, with the Kashmir Valley witnessing a "massive" 30 points jump in poll participation compared to 2019.

The three seats in the Valley -- Srinagar, Baramulla and Anantnag-Rajouri -- recorded turnout of 38.49 per cent, 59.1 per cent and 54.84 per cent respectively, which has been the highest in last three decades.

The other two seats in the UT -- Udhampur and Jammu -- recorded 68.27 per cent and 72.22 per cent voter turnout respectively, it said.

The high poll percentage in the 2024 Lok Sabha polls is reflective of their faith in democracy, which is a positive and heartening development, the poll body said.

Jammu and Kashmir has six Lok Sabha constituencies - Baramulla, Jammu, Srinagar, Udhampur, Ladakh and Anantnag. Jammu and Kashmir has a population of around 1.25 crore, as per the 2011 Census.

The 2019 Indian general election in Jammu and Kashmir took place to fill six seats in the state. The voting took place over five phases on April 11, 18, 23, 29, and May 6. This election was the last before the state's special status was revoked, leading to its reconstitution into two union territories later that same year. The BJP and the Jammu and Kashmir National Conference won three seats apiece while the Congress failed to open its account.

In the general elections in 2014, Jammu and Kashmir had a total of 7,183,129 registered electors. Of these, 3,571,537 voted on 9,633 polling stations to choose their representatives in the parliament from among 77 candidates.
