The Godda Lok Sabha constituency consists of Madhupur, Deoghar, Jarmundi, Poreyahat, Godda and Mahagama assembly segments. Under this constituency the Deoghar  assembly seat falls under the scheduled caste category. 

The constituency went to polls on May 19 in the seventh phase of 2019 general elections. The poll results will be released on May 23.

BJP's Nishikant Dubey is the sitting MP from this constituency. In 2014 he defeated Furkan Ansari, the Congress nominated candidate in this seat by a margin of 60682. He is a two-time Member of Parliament, and was a member of the Public Accounts Committee. He is also a member of the Standing Committee on Finance, the Consultative Committee of the Ministry of Tourism and Culture, and the Committee on Estimates.  

This time the lok sabha elections will have Zaffar Obaid, who was the BSP nominated candidate from this constituency along with BJP's Nishikant Dubey and Pradeep Yadav of JVM(P). They are among the 13 candidates who are in fray for the seat, of which are six independent candidates.

The General Elections of 2014 saw a total voter turnout of 1,590,628.
