In the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, Jayant Sinha was elected from Hazaribagh in Jharkhand on a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) ticket. He received 4,06,931 votes. His closest opponent was Saurabh Narain Singh of Congress who received 2,47,803 votes. Jayant Sinha won the constituency by a margin of 1,59,128 votes.
In 2009 general elections Hazaribagh seat was won by Yashwant Sinha of BJP. In 2004 general elections Bhubneshwar Prasad Mehta of CPI won the Hazaribagh parliamentary constituency and her runner up was Yashwant Sinha of BJP.
Hazaribagh parliamentary constituency consists of five Vidhan Sabha seats these are Barhi, Barkagaon, Ramgarh, Mandu and Hazaribagh.
Voting for Hazaribagh seat was concluded in the fifth phase of elections on May 6.
In the 2019 general elections BJP has fielded Jayant Sinha, Congress candidate is Gopal Prasad Sahu and CPI has fielded Bhubneshwar Prasad Mehta.
