Sarita AnandINDThe Jamshedpur Lok Sabha constituency consists of Bahragora, Ghatsila, Potka, Jugsalai, Jamshedpur-East, Jamshedpur-West assembly segments. Under this constituency the Jugsalai assembly seat falls under the scheduled caste category and the Ghatsila seat falls under the scheduled tribe category .
The constituency went to polls on May 12 in the sixth phase of 2019 general elections. The poll results will be released on May 23.
BJP's Bidyut Baran Mahato is the sitting MP from this constituency. In 2014 he defeated Ajay Kumar, the JVM nominated candidate in this seat by a margin of 99876. He is a member of the Standing Committee on Industry and Consultative Committee of the Ministry of Steel and Mines.
This time the lok sabha elections will have Anjana Mahata, who was All India Trinamool Congress (AITC) the nominated candidate from this constituency along with BSP's Ashraf Hussain, Champai Soren of Jharkhand Multi Morcha (JMM) and BJP's Bidyut Baran Mahato. They are among the 23 candidates who are in fray for the seat, of which are seven independent candidates.
The General Elections of 2014 saw a total voter turnout of 1,581,665.
