About Ranchi

In the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, Ram Tahal Choudhary was elected from Ranchi in Jharkhand on a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) ticket. He received 4,48,729 votes. His closest opponent was Subodh Kant Sahay from Congress who received 2,49,426 votes. Ram Tahal Choudhary won the constituency by a margin of 1,99,303 votes.
 
In 2009 general elections Ranchi seat was won by Subodh Kant Sahay of Congress. In 2004 general elections as well Ranchi parliamentary seat was won by Subodh Kant Sahay of Congress and his runner up was Ram Tahal Choudhary.
 
Ranchi parliamentary constituency consists of six Vidhan Sabha seats these are Ichagarh, Silli, Khijri, Ranchi, Hatia and Kanke.

In the 2019 general elections BJP fielded Sanjay Seth, Congress candidate was Subodh Kant Sahay and BSP candidate was Bidyadhar Prasad.
