Meghalaya, a picturesque northeastern state, has two Lok Sabha seats - Shillong and Tura. Both seats went to polls on April 19, the first phase of the Lok Sabha elections 2024, to elect their representatives to the Parliament. The state recorded 76.6% voter turnout (Shillong 73.78% and Tura 81.37%) this year. The BJP did not contest the polls in Meghalaya and backed the NPP, which made it a Congress versus NPP fight in both seats. In 2019, the Congress's Vincent Pala had won the Shillong seat while the National People's Party (NPP)'s Agatha Sangma won from Tura. Both the sitting MPs are seeking re-election this time.
