Mizoram, one of the smallest states of the country, voted on April 19 - the first phase of the Lok Sabha Elections 2024 - to elect their representative to parliament. It has just one Lok Sabha constituency and recorded 56.87% turnout. The ruling Zoram People's Movement, which contested the Lok Sabha election for the first time, had fielded entrepreneur Richard Vanlalhmangaiha against Mizo National Front's sitting Rajya Sabha member K. Vanlalvena. The Congress fielded former cop Lalbiakzama while the BJP put up its state chief Vanlalhmuaka. The lone woman candidate, singer Rita Malsawmi, was fielded by Mizoram People's Conference. In 2019, MNF's C Lalrosanga had won the election.
