The north-eastern state of Tripura has only two constituencies, Tripura East and Tripura West. The hill state, which has a population of 36.74 lakh as per the 2011 Census, voted in two phases in the national elections of 2024.
The Election Commission had announced two-phase polling in the state; polls in the Tripura West seat was held on April 19 in the first phase. Polling in the Tripura East seat was held on April 26 in the second phase.
The total number of voters in the state is 28.5 lakh. The number of male voters in the state is 14 lakh, while the number of female voters is also 14 lakh, and third gender is 74. In West Tripura, the total number of electorates is 16 lakh; a total of 13 lakh voters are in East Tripura parliamentary seat.
The total number of polling stations set up are 3,349.
The results of the 2019 Lok Sabha elections in Tripura saw a landslide win for the BJP, which won both seats.
In the 2023 assembly elections, the BJP-led NDA won 33 seats, the Left alliance won 14, and Tipra Motha Party won 11. The NDA and Tipra Motha Party formed an alliance government in the state, which has 60 assembly seats.
Votes for the national elections will be counted on June 4.
