National Award-winning film Lage Raho Munna Bhai, starring Sanjay Dutt and Arshad Warsi in the lead roles, completed 15 years on Wednesday. Actress Dia Mirza, who also featured in the Rajkumar Hirani-directed and Vidhu Vinod Chopra-produced film, marked 15 years of Lage Raho Munna Bhai with a series of tweets about how the film "always remains relevant because of its theme." She also wrote that "terms like 'Gandhigiri' and 'get well soon' are now part of the popular lexicon forever because of" Lage Raho Munna Bhai. The film, which is a follow-up to Sanjay Dutt's 2003 movie Munna Bhai M.B.B.S, gave birth to the term Gandhigiri. It shows Sanjay Dutt, who plays a goon, using Mahatma Gandhi's non-violence lessons, which he refers to as Gandhigiri, to help people solve their problems.
Sharing a still featuring herself and Abhishek Bachchan from the film, which also starred Vidya Balan, Dia Mirza wrote: "A film like 'Lage Raho Munna Bhai' always remains relevant because of its theme. It is very rare that a film addresses really complicated societal issues in such a simple yet profound way. The questions that the film tackled in 2006 are still meaningful."
"The film shows how easy it is to bring people together, dissipate ignorance and create synergy, harmony and peace even in the most contentious situations. This is how we won our independence; with extraordinary resilience and idealism," she added in another tweet.
In a subsequent tweet, Dia Mirza added: "These values are timeless and can never be obsolete. Terms like 'Gandhigiri' and 'Get well soon" are now part of the popular lexicon forever because of this film. Proud to be a part of this amazing movie."
