The first Global Indian Music Awards (GIMA) for excellence in film and non-film music will be held in Mumbai on November 10.
In addition to the ten non-film and 11 film music categories, there will be an award for the Best Anti-Piracy Initiative, a release issued here today said.
GIMA received 940 entries including 223 albums. Six Bollywood films - 3 Idiots, Karthik Calling Karthik, Kaminey, Ishqiya, Love Aaj Kal and Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab
Kahani - have been nominated in the film-music category.
Legends and new talent alike are vying for the honours in the non-film music category. Nominations include Ustad Rashid Khan, Ustad Zakir Hussain, Pandit Hari Prasad Chaurasia, Dr L Subramaniam, Shubha Mudgal, Lata Mangeshkar, Kailash Kher, Mohit Chauhan and Purnima Chaudhuri.
The Best Non-Film Song has seen some familiar titles with 'Aman Ki Asha', 'Bas Ek Baat Ka Humko Gila', 'Chaandan Mein', 'Fitoor', 'Let's Go To Mumbai City' and 'Marhabba
