It is a Hera Pheri day for Akshay Kumar and Suniel Shetty as their 2000 film completed 21 years of its release on Wednesday. Both Akshay and Suniel got nostalgic on social media while remembering the movie. And we are sure that their tweets will take you back to the Hera Pheri world. Paresh Rawal, who was the third lead in Hera Pheri, hasn't shared anything yet. Akshay posted a still from the film on the micro-blogging platform and called it his favourite scene. The still features Akshay Kumar as Raju, Suniel Shetty as Shyam and Paresh Rawal as Babu Bhaiya. The actor also acknowledged Hera Pheri director Priyadarshan and late Neeraj Vora, who worked as a screenplay writer in the film.
Reminiscing about Hera Pheri, he wrote, "...we didn't know back then what a film we were making, each scene better than the other. Specially love this one: dhoti. Genius of Priyan sir and epic dialogues by late Neeraj Vora.
For those of you who haven't watched Hera Pheri yet, the still is from a scene when Raju tells Babu Bhaiya to pick up his "dhoti". The hilarious scene also featured their co-star Tabu.
Akshay tweeted this in his reply to Suniel Shetty, who initially wrote a note on the occasion of 21 years of Hera Pheri on the platform. In his tweet, Suniel added a photo collage of a scene from their film which reads, "21 years and counting". The actor shared that "it seems I blinked and 21 years went by". "No wonder we underestimate how quickly time flies. It seems I blinked, and 21 years went by. What a film we made @priyadarshandir @akshaykumar @SirPareshRawal @GulshanGroverGG #Tabu. Missing #OmPuri ji very dearly today," Suniel tweeted.
Hera Pheri was directed by Priyadarshan. Apart from Akshay Kumar, Suniel Shetty and Paresh Rawal, the film featured Tabu, Om Puri, Gulshan Grover and Kulbhushan Kharbanda in pivotal roles.
Even after 21 years of Hera Pheri release, cinephiles love Akshay Kumar, Suniel Shetty and Paresh Rawal's camaraderie in the film. The rib-tickling dialogues written by the late Neeraj Vora are still popular among the fans. Phir Hera Pheri, the second installment of the Hera Pheri franchise released in 2006, in which these three actors reprised their respective roles. The dhoti scene was also featured in Phir Hera Pheri with a few changes.
Now we wonder what Paresh Rawal aka Babu Bhaiya has to say on the occasion. We are guessing his favourite dialogue would be "Ye Baburao ka style hai!"
