Filmfare Awards South 2022: Allu Arjun, Suriya, Tabu - All Winners

Pushpa: The Rise won six awards, including Best Film and Best Director

Allu Arjun and Suriya have not one, not two but many reasons to rejoice. Their films Pushpa: The Rise and Soorarai Pottru swept top awards at the 67th Filmfare Awards South 2022 on Sunday. FYI: the awards are divided up by language - Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam. Under the Telugu category, it was a night to remember for Allu Arjun who won Best Actor in a Leading Role for his performance in the hit film Pushpa: The Rise. Suriya was recognised for his work in the Tamil category of the awards. He took home the Best Actor trophy for Soorarai Pottru. Suriya also won the National Film Award for his performance in the film based on the life of Captain Gopinath, who founded the budget airline Air Deccan.

Sai Pallavi won the Best Actress trophy for the Telugu film Love Story, and in Tamil cinema, Lijomol Jose was recognised for her role in Jai Bhim, co-starring Suriya.

Among the Kannada stars, Dhananjay won the Best Actor award for Badava Rascal. Biju Menon was given the Best Actor Filmfare for 2020's Malayalam film Ayyappanum Koshiyum.

Pushpa: The Rise won six awards, including Best Film and Best Director. Suriya's Soorarai Pottru took home seven awards, while his 2021 film Jai Bhim earned two Filmfare Awards, including Best Film (Tamil).

At the 67th Filmfare Awards South, the late actor Puneeth Rajkumar won a posthumous award --  Lifetime Achievement Award.
