New Delhi:
There was heartbreak for India at the Olympic Games in Rio on Monday night when shooting Abhinav Bindra narrowly missed a medal and the men's hockey team lost to Germany. Back in Mumbai, actor Amitabh Bachchan was watching and tweeting - and his tweets were a reminder that win or lose, India couldn't be prouder of its athletes.
This tweet from the 73-year-old actor was posted shortly after columnist Shobhaa De described Team India's performance as a 'waste of money and opportunity' in a tweet that has since been widely criticized.
Mr Bachchan, a sports fan, has been avidly following the Games. On Sunday, he tweeted about not being able to watch gymnast Dipa Karmakar qualify for the vault event.
Tuesday was a busy day for Amitabh Bachchan, the trailer of whose next film Pink was released in Mumbai. It's unlikely, however, that he will not watch the hockey match or the shooting later. We'll be logging on to look at his tweets in the am.
