The deadly second wave of the coronavirus that began to engulf India in March shows no signs of abating. In the last 24 hours, 3.68 lakh fresh COVID-19 cases were reported. A slew of celebrities, too, has been infected with the virus in the past few weeks. Last week, Telugu actor Allu Arjun  had informed his followers on social media that he has tested positive and isolated himself. Actress Pooja Hegde, who is also COVID-19 positive, wished him a speedy recovery. Reminiscing the time they spent on the sets of their 2020 film Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo, she tweeted, "Buntu seems to be giving Amulya company. Take care Allu Arjun. Sending you some healing light and energy. You'll be healthy in no time." Buntu and Amulya were the names of their characters in the film.

In 2020, Allu Arjun's actor-cousin Ram Charan had tested positive for COVID-19. His uncle and Telugu superstar Chiranjeevi, too, battled coronavirus last year.

Workwise, Allu Arjun will next be seen in the movie Pushpa later this year. It also features Malayalam south actor Fahadh Faasil, who makes his Telugu debut in the movie, and actress Rashmika Mandanna.
